Roots & Reasons

This is the story behind Holler & Hue—who I am, where I come from, and why I do the work I do.

Rachel Preskitt, founder of Holler & Hue

My name is Rachel Preskitt. I’m a communicator by trade and a creative by heart. With over a decade of experience in nonprofit communications, I launched Holler & Hue in January 2026 to use my skills in service of local businesses and the communities they help grow.

I draw inspiration from the everyday poetry of Southern Appalachian life—kudzu winding through forgotten places, patchwork quilts dancing on a line, turnip greens simmering on the stove. My work is shaped by this sense of story, texture, and soul.

I live in a hundred-year-old log cabin in Fort Payne, Alabama, with my husband and our two-year-old son. When I’m not working, you’ll find me exploring the backroads of the South, thrifting for treasures, or tending my ever-growing wildflower garden.

If my work speaks to you, I'd love to hear from you.
